Eastport Gallery Opens for Summer Season

Posted by Pamela Leavey on June 16, 2009

The Eastport Gallery in Eastport, Maine is having their opening reception on Saturday the 20th. I’m giving both the Gallery and one of it’s artist’s, my niece Lisa Marquis Bradbury, a shameless plug here, as I won’t be able to attend the reception.

There are so many talented artists in Eastport, but I am of course partial to Lisa’s work. Here’s one my favorite landscapes by Lisa Marquis Bradbury:

The beautiful view captured above by Lisa was a short walk from where I lived in Eastport.

Lennon in New York

Posted by Pamela Leavey on May 9, 2009

“John Lennon: The New York City Years,” opens on Tuesday at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex NYC in SoHo. The exhibition ”provides a glimpse of the nine years the artist lived in the city, from 1971 until his death in 1980.”

The show offers a good overview of his creative world, with examples of his art (drawings and collages, some never seen before), video clips of his performances and, most crucially, a collection of lyric sheets and production notes that, if you look closely at Lennon’s changes, additions and annotations, tell a lot about his working methods and his ways of thinking about music.

Check out the slideshow in the NY Times.

Hard Edge painting with T’ang Dynasty Phoenix line drawing

Posted by multifacetsflux on April 25, 2009

The first line drawing had to be redone because there was not enough contrast from burnished coppery orange line drawing and the 64 variations of red violet hard edge.. as fond as I am of the coppery orange, I prefer the updated verdigris color for the T’ang dynasty phoenix line drawing against the 64 variations of the red violet hard edge painting because it provides more contrast..
