My daughter and i had many go arounds over the cell phone bills and texting. When we moved to Maine there was no service in the rural area we moved to so that solved the problem. Now 7 months without cell phones, life is simpler and more enjoyable. Now that we've moved again to area when service is more readily available, I'm in no hurry to get cell phones again.

I was talking about phone bill issues with #1 daughter today. She texts with her boyfriend from the time she wakes up until the time she goes to sleep, so we have an unlimited texting plan. It's ridiculous to be paying nearly $200 in monthly phone bills (land line plus 3 cell phones).

I am ready to dump the cell phones when the contract is up. How did cell phones become a "necessary evil"?
